Honouring Poppy Day

I wear a lot of scarves – pretty much daily most of the year – so was delighted to receive this one, called Novembre, by Canadian design company NIMINIMI.

Montreal-based designer Nimi Nanji Simard created this gorgeous silk square, called Novembre, in honour of Remembrance Day. “My family came to this country as refugees,” she notes, “and we are so thankful that Canada welcomed us with open arms.”

This new Canadian luxury accessory collection was founded by Nimi earlier this year after a career working as a buyer for luxury hotels in Nairobi, Mount Kenya and Maasai Mara. Her premiere collection includes original designs (all stunning) influenced by her past in Africa, as well as contemporary Montreal.

“Novembre” is 90cm x 90cm in 100% silk and sells for $300 (full size) and $80 (pocket size). For more on Nimi’s new collection, check out niminimi.ca Nimi has donated both the full and pocket version of this scarf to the “Night of a Thousand Stars Gala” in support of the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation in Vancouver on November 5. I’ll be accessorizing mine with a poppy and donation to Canadian veterans.
